Coffee Exchange is a family owned business that was established in Providence, RI in 1984.  Parents Mel & Rose Fishbein supported their sons Bill and Charlie in their innovative approach to small batch roasting in an intimate community setting more than a decade before the larger corporate coffee shops came to town.  While the cafe itself has expanded and an online store added, it remains an intimate gathering spot with long held relationships throughout the city.

Coffee Exchange was the first to spawn a non-profit arm concerned with coffee growers and their families and the fairness of the market.  Coffee Kids was established in 1988 and that effort grew into The Coffee Trust - a model of empowerment based business investment that supports coffee growing communities in Central America.

Fair Trade, Organic and Humane have been the guiding principles of Coffee Exchange for over 30 years.
